Message from Team Therapeion

Updated: May 2, 2020

We have been following the news of the worldwide spread of the coronavirus named SARS-CoV2, and the associated COVID-19 infection.   We want to assure you that the health of everyone associated with Therapeion is our first priority.  We have been closely following recommendations issued by the CDC, WHO, and other medical experts over the last few months, and we will continue to do so.

Let us reassure you — horses cannot catch or transmit the coronavirus!  Furthermore, all of our horses get regular attention from Purdue’s veterinarians. Thus, we don’t need to do anything special with the horses — they are safe, and of particular importance: they cannot infect any of the riders or volunteers!

Some of our students, volunteers, and staff may have weakened immune systems, and some are in groups with a higher risk of complications if they fall ill. It is very important that we all work together to ensure that the Therapeion environment remains a place of healing and fun.

As a result, we are offering summer classes with enhanced health protocols.

As a reminder, the Therapeion phone number is (765) 414-8066. Please call or text if you will be missing one or more classes.  You may also send us an e-mail if you are notifying us one or more days in advance.

We will be continuously monitoring the situation and will announce changes on our website and via e-mail, if warranted.

—The Board of Directors of Therapeion TRC
